Joan Ponc

1944   Begins his artistic training in Ramón Rogent’s studio and at the Academy of Fine Arts.

1946   First group exhibition, “Tres Pintores y Un Escultor,” in Barcelona. 

1948   Meets Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí.  An album of his lithographs is published. 

1953   Moves to Brazil, and brings a letter of introduction to the director of the Biennial from Miró.  Stays in Brazil for ten years, where he founds and directs the art school, L’ Espai.

1955, 1957   Two significant solo exhibitions at the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo. 

1963   Returns to Spain with international recognition. 

1965   Wins the grand prize of drawing at the São Paulo International Biennial.
